OPPO A5 Launched in Kenya with 6000mAh Battery, IP65 Rating, and 5-Year Lifespan

The OPPO A5 is now available in the country, following the success of its Pro sibling, which launched in late March.

The phone joins OPPO’s A series lineup, boasting long-term reliability and endurance for everyday users.

OPPO A5 sports IP65-rated water and dust resistance, which means that the phone will be able to be protected from elements like rain, splashes, and dust particles.

It also comes with military grade shock resistance standards(MIL-STD-810H compliant) and a double-tempered glass screen that can withstand impacts up to 160% higher than regular display glass, so you won’t get scratches or cracks from drops and key damage.

OPPO A5 Specs

The phone is powered by a 6000mAh battery that can last a full day of heavy use, including 16 hours of video playback and 26 hours of call time, plus 450 hours of standby time according to OPPO.

The company has engineered the phone to retain more than 80% of its original capacity after 1700 charge cycles, which equates to about 5 years of use. For topping up, the OPPO A5 supports 45W SUPERVOOC flash charge – 50% in 36 minutes.

OPPO A5 comes running on ColorOS 15 on top of Android 15, and you also get Google’s Gemini AI assistant. It has a 50MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor, plus a  5MP front camera with camera modes like Portrait and AI imaging enhancements to get clear photos. Viseo recording is capped at 1080p 30fps for both main and selfie cameras.

Snapdragon 6s Gen 1 4G processor with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage can be found under the hood. It also features a RAM Expansion feature for smooth multitasking and OPPO’s Trinity Engine to maintain system performance over four years, thus making the phone pass the OPPO 48-Month Full Protection standard.

OPPO A5 has a 6.7-inch screen sporting 1000 nits brightness with 300% Ultra Volume Mode for clearer audio and Seamless Celur/Wi-Fi Network Switching 2.0 to maintain stronger connections across different networks.

OPPO A5 has a slim profile, weighing in at 193 grams and measuring 7.99mm thick. It comes in various colors, including Mist White and Aurora Green. For biometrics, you get face unlock and a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

Pricing and Availability in Kenya

OPPO S5 comes in two variants in the country:

• 6GB RAM + 128GB: Ksh 21,999
• 8GB RAM + 256GB: Ksh 25,999

The phone is also available through Lipa Pole Pole financing via Onfon Mobile, requiring a 20% deposit and daily payments:

• 6+128GB: Ksh 4,500 deposit, Ksh 110 daily
• 8+256GB: Ksh 5,200 deposit, Ksh 125 daily
