Samsung 2024 QLED TVs Receive Industry-First Picture Quality Excellence Certifications From VDE

Samsung Electronics revealed that seven of its 2024 Neo QLED and QLED models are the first in the industry to be certified for True Cinema Black and HDR Brightness Accuracy by Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), one of Europe’s largest technical-scientific associations with more than 36,000 members.

Six of Samsung’s 2024 Neo QLED 8K and 4K models, along with one QLED 4K model, have achieved the industry’s first HDR Brightness Accuracy certification, ensuring that they accurately replicate HDR content’s brightness levels, adhering to HDR standards and providing picture quality that closely aligns with human perception. HDR technology improves the brightness and darkness in images, creating lifelike visuals for an exceptional cinematic experience in any room with Samsung’s Neo QLED and QLED TVs.

Samsung’s 2024 Neo QLED and QLED lineup features seven models that set a new standard in home entertainment with the True Cinema Black certification, showcasing impressive local dimming performance and the ability to precisely display wide aspect ratio films in 4:3 format without light blooming, thus preserving cinematic integrity.

The HDR Brightness Accuracy certification guarantees that models faithfully replicate HDR brightness levels for incredibly lifelike images.

The certification is based on rigorous evaluations of black levels in the Letterbox area, ensuring deep and immersive visuals when watching official footage from the American Society of Cinematographers within VESA® guidelines. The superior local dimming performance eliminates unwanted light interference, allowing viewers to experience movies with deep blacks and vivid details, similar to a theater experience.

True Cinema Black certification proves that TVs can provide deep and immersive viewing experiences.

What They’re Saying

“Technology continues to advance, enabling us to deliver an unmatched cinematic experience in our customers’ homes. We are committed to setting the highest standards for picture quality in both high-resolution and big-screen TVs, and we are proud that our Neo QLED TVs have earned these industry-first certifications from VDE,” said Yongjae Kim, Executive Vice President, and Deputy Head of the R&D Team, Visual Display Business.
