Xiaomi’s affordable Redmi A1+ launching in Kenya on October 7


 Xiaomi has announced that it will be launching its affordable Redmi A1+ smartphone on Friday, October 7. 

Running Android Go, the Redmi A1+ will join the range of affordable Redmi smartphones this year in the Kenyan market. It’s also the second smartphone from the company running this version of Android after the Redmi Go that the company launched back in 2019.

”As the demand for affordable mobile devices continues to heighten across the country, Redmi A1+ is expected to attract a large consumer base giving access to superior specifications at an affordable price” Xiaomi Kenya said in a statement.  ‘This is in line with Xiaomi’s mission, which is relentlessly building amazing products with honest prices to let everyone in the world enjoy a better life through innovative technology. ”

Redmi A1+ Specs

Redmi A1+ sports a 6.52-inch display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels (HD+). The phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 chipset paired with LPDDR4x RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage.

It’s an Android 12 Go Edition phone and draws power from a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W wired charging.

For the optics, we’re getting an 8MP rear camera assisted by a 0.3MP depth sensor and a 5MP camera on the front.

Redmi A1+ measures 164.9 x 76.5 x 9.1mm in dimensions, weighs 192g. It will be available in three colour options (black, blue, and green).

Xiaomi is expected to price the device at around KES 12,000.
