Oppo A74, A54 Officially Launched in Kenya With Bigger Batteries, and Fast Charging Support

Oppo Kenya has this morning announced two new smartphones in the country, Oppo A74, and Oppo A54.

As the numbers suggest, Oppo A74 is slightly more powerful than the A54. Oppo A74 features a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chip, while the A54 runs a Mediatek Helio P35 SoC.

Both have massive 5000mAh batteries, but the A74 includes support for 33W fast charging compared to 18W on the younger sibling. Oppo touts the included 33W flash charger to juice the phone from 0 to 54% in just 34 minutes.

Oppo A74 also packs more under the hood – 6GB of memory paired with 128GB of internal storage. You get the same internal storage on the A54, but the memory is 4GB.

The A74 has a 48MP main camera on the camera side of things, aided by a 2MP depth camera and a depth sensor. It has a single 16MP selfie camera. For the A54, you get three lenses on the rear as well. However, you don’t get the same lenses as the A74. Here, you will find a 13MP main, a 2MP macro camera, and a depth sensor. The selfie camera is an identical 16MP lens.

Oppo A74 sports a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a hole punch and an optical under-display fingerprint sensor.

Oppo A54 has a slightly bigger 6.51-inch 720p IPS LCD hole-punch display. On the A54, the fingerprint sensor is mounted on the side. You also get other table stakes on the two, Bluetooth, WiFi, 4G LTE, a fingerprint sensor, and a headphone jack.

Oppo A74, A54 Price

Oppo A74 starts at KES 28,999. It sells in two colors, Prism Black and Midnight Blue. The A54 retails at KES 21,999 for the 4/64GB memory variant and the bigger storage model with 128GB at KES 24,999.
