Safaricom’s 24-hour Service Upgrade To Affect a Number of Services, Starting Tomorrow


Kenya’s largest telecom Safaricom has announced a planned weekend service upgrade. According to the telco, the service upgrade is meant to support the growth of its products and features.

“We are upgrading our systems to support the growth of our products and features, and to ensure that we continue to deliver innovations in line with the needs of our customers,” Safaricom says.

Due to the service upgrade, a number of the telco’s services won’t be available during the process. The service upgrade will start tomorrow(Saturday 22nd) at 5.00 PM and end on Sunday, 23rd 2020 at the same time — 5.00 PM.

Here are all the services that will be affected;

  • activation of new SIM Cards
  • SIM Swap
  • Get PUK
  • Tariff Migration

Remaining services like Calls, Data, M-PESA and SMS be up and running as usual.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused and thank you for your continued support,” the telco added.
