Huawei Freebuds 3 Wireless Noise Cancellation Earbuds Launched at #IFA2019

With IFA being Europe’s top electronic trade show, Huawei made a couple of announcements. Huawei announced its new Kirin 990 SoC integrated with 5G, revamped P30 Pro devices and a new pair of truly wireless earbuds dubbed Huawei Freebuds 3.

From the naming system, you can tell these are not the first Huawei wireless earbuds. Unlike the previous generations, Huawei Freebuds 3 is powered by Kirin A1 chip, which offers more.

What sets apart Huawei Freebuds 3 in the industry is the fact that the Kirin A1 chip is the industry’s first chip to support both Bluetooth 5.1 and BLE 5.1. For the uninitiated, BLE also called Bluetooth Low Energy is a low power consumption Bluetooth standard which is meant for wearables.

Besides, the new earbuds are also open-fit Active Noise Cancellation headphones, according to Huawei. What this means is that the earbuds achieve noise cancellation from the environment without relying on a physical barrier, unlike current headphones.  Meaning the HUAWEI FreeBuds 3 is the world’s 1st open-fit active noise cancellation True Wireless Stereo earbuds.

Another killer feature is the ability to attain 15dB ambient noise reduction on each bud, and at the same time, the earbuds have “bone sensor” to help in voice clarification and amplification when on a call.

Huawei also says their new pair of wireless earbuds supports acoustic feedback which is handy when gaming.

As the norm dictates for wireless earbuds, the new Huawei Freebuds 3 also comes with a charging case which is circular that should fit comfortably in your pocket or hand.

Huawei also touts their earbuds offering stable connectivity, dual-channel Bluetooth connection, ultra-low latency, stereo sound, and active noise-canceling) – but we shall see if they make to compete with Sony’s expensive WF-1000XM3.

Also, the new- Airpod like earbuds support wireless charging and charges faster as compared to Airpods. Also, a single charge should last up to four hours, but they can also achieve a 20 hours playback time when used alongside the charging case. Huawei’s headphones will go on sale as from next month and will competitively be priced cheaper than Apple’s Airpods.

(Update Sept 19th)

Huawei Freebuds 3 price starts at 179 Euros (approx. Ksh 21,000).
