Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 launching in Kenya – everything you need to know


Huawei has confirmed that it is launching the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 in the country later this month. We had previously told you about this expected launch and it looks like the device might be here any time from now.

The announcement comes in the midst is a strained relationship between Huawei and the U.S that led to the company being restricted from using Google’s Android OS.  This ban basically meant that Huawei’s future smartphone ecosystem won’t be able to access any Google services, including Gmail, Play Store, or even YouTube.  Remember this ban does not affect previous Huawei devices including the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019. This also does not stop Huawei from releasing new devices in the market even at seeks alternatives should Google not reverse the ban.

That aside, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 features a motorized pop-up camera skipping the notch on this one. It comes with a 6.59-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels at a pixel density of 391 pixels per inch (ppi) and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It is powered by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 710F processor and comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB  of internal storage.

The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 runs EMUI 9.0 based on Android Pie and is powered by a 4000mA battery.

For the cameras as we said it features a motorized pop-up selfie camera which is 16-megapixel with an f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera is 16-megapixel with an f/1.8 aperture; a second 8-megapixel camera and a third 2-megapixel camera.

Speaking of the soon to be launched device in the market, Huawei Mobile Country President, Steven Li said, “Huawei, a brand known for meaningful innovations for its users is constantly working at improving the smartphone experience. With the soon to be launched Y9 Prime 2019 we have paid close attention to camera and display that is aimed at attracting consumers who are looking for some of the most innovative features.”
