The Huawei P30 Pro, P30 Lite and the P30 now available in Kenya


Huawei Mobile Kenya has unveiled its Huawei P30 Series flagship smartphones – P30 Pro, P30 and P30 Lite in the Kenyan market.  

Huawei P series of smartphones has always been focused on providing the best customer experience. I loved the P20 and the P20 Pro did justice in these regards, and with the P30 and P30 Pro, Huawei wants to give you a better camera experience. Huawei says the P30 series is designed to change the user’s expectations of smartphone photography by achieving the highest camera resolutions.

Huawei is selling the P30 Pro at Kshs 99,999, Kshs 72,999 for the P30 and Kshs 29,999 for the P30 Lite.  

Speaking during the launch, Huawei Kenya Vice President, Steven Li said that the Huawei P30 Series is a fundamental breakthrough after decades of digital camera technology development.

“These devices feature the innovative Huawei SuperSpectrum Sensor, an optical SuperZoom Lens, a new Huawei Time of Flight (ToF) Camera, and enhanced optical and AI image stabilization technology. With these revolutionary technologies, the phones are enabled to capture incredible photos and videos in every scenario,” said Mr. Li.

The devices colours are : P30 pro and P30 (three colours): Breathing Crystal, Midnight Black and Aurora Blue. P30 lite (three colours): Pearl White, Midnight Black and Peacock Blue.

Huawei P30 Pro

The P30 Pro comes with a 6.47-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The phone  measures 158.00 x 73.40 x 8.41mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 192.00 grams.

The Huawei P30 Pro is powered by a 2.6GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor and comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage that can be expanded via Memory Card card up to 256GB).

The Huawei P30 Pro runs EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 and is powered by a 4,200mAh battery. The phone also supports wireless charging, as well as proprietary fast charging.

For the cameras, the Huawei P30 Pro packs a 40-megapixel primary camera at the back with an f/1.6 aperture; a second 20-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a third 8-megapixel camera with an f/3.4 aperture. The rear camera setup also has autofocus. The selfie camera is 32-megapixel with an f/2.0 aperture.

Huawei P30

The P30 comes with a 6.10-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels. It is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor and comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

The Huawei P30 runs Android Pie and is powered by a 3,650mAh battery and runs EMUI 9.1 based on Android Pie.

For the cameras, the Huawei P30 packs a rear 40-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture; a second 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a third 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture with autofocus. The selfie camera is 32-megapixel with an f/2.0 aperture.

Huawei P30 Lite

The P30 Lite comes with a 6.15-inch full-HD+ (1080×2312 pixels) LCD display in a 19.3:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by an octa-core HilSilicon Kirin 710 SoC coupled with 4GB. There’s also a  6GB RAM variant which is not currently available locally. We’re also getting 128GB of inbuilt storage on the smartphone, expandable via microSD card up to 256GB.

As far as the camera is concerned, the smartphone bears a  triple rear camera setup with a 24-megapixel primary sensor with a wide-angle lens and an f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel secondary sensor with an ultra wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The selfie camera is 32-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

The P30 Lite runs EMUI 9.0.1 based on Android 9.0 Pie and is powered by a 3,340mAh battery.

Pre-orders for the three devices can be made through online shopping platforms; Jumia, Kilimall and Masoko. The pre-order period ends on 25th of April. Huawei also says that you can Pre-order P30 pro and P30 with a down payment of Kshs 5,000 before 3rd May and get a free a Bluetooth speaker and a Huawei Band 3 smartwatch.  Youc can also pre-order P30 Lite with a down payment of Kshs 3,000 before 26th April and get a free Bluetooth speaker.
