The next TECNO Phantom device is coming on July 10

TECNO Phantom Series was popular at some time in the Kenyan market but since the company’s relaxation things have turned around.

TECNO released their last device in the Phantom series back in 2017, skipping a Phantom 8 successor in 2018. However soon TECNO will be back with a new Phantom device ‘aimed at redefining the premium smartphone category in Kenya.’

We cannot attest to that at the moment, but as they say, the new Phantom device will be big! Of course, that’s what we expect given that the market has already seen a significant change since TECNO released their last flagship.

The hint, for now, is that the new flagship will have a fingerprint sensor that is ‘naturally placed’ which may hint at an in-display fingerprint. Also, photography is still a primary target with the upcoming device. The camera will have AI capabilities like in other devices from competitors like Infinix and Oppo. The critical thing will be the latest hardware technology that the company will feature on the device.

But to capture the attention of consumers again, the TECNO Phantom 9 or whatever they will call it will have to come with at least a triple camera lens setup at the back for both depth sensing, wide-angle view and some telephoto lens.

Nevertheless, it’s 2019 and redefining the market’ means we should expect latest features to be on the Phantom 9 like the latest Snapdragon 855, fast charging tech, most recent Bluetooth 5.0, and the latest Android as per the time the device will be launching.

Besides the display we should expect a water-drop notch or better a motorized pop-up selfie, the aim at the top is a 19:5:9 aspect ratio.

Update

TECNO has hinted the Phantom 9 will be officially launched on July 10. The in-display fingerprint sensor is confirmed.
