TECNO Camon 19 Series officially launched in Kenya


Tecno Mobile on Monday officially unveiled its Camon 19 Series in Kenya. The series comprises of the standard Camon 19, the Camon 19 Pro and the Camon 19 5G.

The series succeeds the Camon 18 that the company launched back in October last year and comes with a number of improved specs and features. Another surprise device that Tecno unveiled at the same event is the Spark 9 series.

The Camon 19 series was however the centre of focus at the launch. important to note that this series from Tecno is always camera focused and that’s exactly what the company has and is using to market the three devices in this series.

All three devices are immediately available for purchase in the market for Ksh. 23,500 for the standard Camon 19, Kshs 33,800 for the Camon 19 Pro and Kshs 41,600 for the Camon 19 5G. Both feature 1080p High Gamut 6.8″ displays with the Camon 19 featuring an LCD screen and the Pro and the 5G version having AMOLED screens with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The regular Camon 19 comes with a 5000mAh battery and supports 18W fast type-c charging while the Camon 19 Pro packs a larger 5000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.

For the optics, the Tecno Camon 19 Pro features a triple rear camera setup comprising of a 64-megapixel primary shooter with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS); a 50-megapixel dedicated portrait lens with 50mm equivalent focal length, then a third 2-megapixel depth sensor. The phone also has four LED flash on the rear. There is a 32-megapixel selfie shooter on the front. The standard Camon 19 features the same 64MP main rear cameras in the dual ring setup and a 32MP front-facing camera.

Under the hood, both smartphones in this series run on MediaTek chipsets. The Camon 19 Pro is powered by a Helio G96 while the Camon 19 is powered by a Helio G85.  The 5G version has a Dimensity 810 chipset.  The Pro variants come with 256GB of onboard storage with 8GB of RAM and support for up to 5GB of virtual RAM. The regular Camon 19 has 128GB of storage and 4GB of RAM.
