Samsung’s new foldable phones receiving massive pre-orders, reports

Samsung has apparently received 450,000 pre-orders of both devices combined

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 last week and these two new foldble devices are expected to be available locally starting September.

The pre-orders are already open for customers in other markets, but in Kenya, customers will be able to place pre-orders from 6th September to 20th September 2021.

At the launch, Samsung Charles Kimari, Business Head Home Appliance Division Samsung Electronics East Africa Ltd said Samsung wants to bring foldable smartphones into the mainstream. This explains why we never saw the company unveil a Galaxy Note device.

Looks like the decision to go mainstream with the foldables and even sell them cheaper is paying off, at least according to recent reports by media outlets in South Korea. According to the reports that cited unnamed industry sources, Samsung has apparently received 450,000 pre-orders of both devices combined.

Total pre-orders are expected to reach at least 600,000 units combined according to the market analysts. If sales of unlocked phones, or phones not locked to a particular mobile carrier, are included, the reports say the figure could even hit 800,000.

Based on these figures, it’s clear that the Fold3 and Flip3 are selling even faster than the latest models from Samsung’s other two popular series the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note.

Curious to see how the pre-orders figures will be in Kenya.  You can click here to book any any of the devices.

In Kenya, as I mentioned,  the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 will be available for pre-order from 6th September to 20th September 2021. The recommended retail price for Galaxy Z Fold3 will start from KShs. 220,999 for the 512GB and KShs. 209,999 for the 256 GB. The recommended retail price for Galaxy Z Flip3 5G will be KShs. 122,999.

The pre-order offer includes complimentary gifts like a A flip cover with S Pen and a wireless charger duo and Samsung Care+ for the Z Fold3 and a leather cover, wireless charger duo, and Samsung Care+ for the Z Flip3.

“With the  Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the  Z Flip3 5G, Samsung is once again redefining the possibilities with foldable smartphones that empower users with the flexibility and versatility needed for today’s fast-paced world,”  Charles Kimari, Head of Department, Samsung Electronics East Africa said during the launch.
