Safaricom Has Rebranded M-PESA To Support Eliud Kipchoge’s Challenge

Safaricom has rebranded its M-PESA logo in honor of Eliud Kipchoge in his challenge to become the first-ever athlete to run a full marathon in under 2 hours. Besides, the company also offered all of its subscribers free YouTube access from 8 AM to 4 PM in order to enable them to stream the race.

In addition, Safaricom has also partnered with the world-renowned athlete as M-PESA’s brand ambassador, as the iconic athlete champions the service’s capability of empowering Kenyans to send and receive money both in the country and across the world.

The free YouTube bundle was accessed via dialing *159# allowing Safaricom subscribers to stream today’s event at no extra cost.

“We are honoured to renew our commitment with Eliud Kipchoge and to support him as he races against time. As part of our support, we will be empowering any Kenyan across the country to stream the challenge for free, wherever they are, with the advantage of our strong network and wide coverage.”

“For every Kenyan, Kipchoge is a reflection of our resilience and determination as he has taken on challenge after challenge,” said Michael Joseph, CEO, Safaricom

Over the next seven days, Safaricom’s M-PESA brand logo will be rebranded to “Eliud 1:59” to commemorate the challenge.
