Kenyan Media Production Firm Portable Voices Signs Partnership Deal with Afripods

Kenyan based media production and podcast start-up Portable Voices has announced a partnership deal with Afripods, an African focused platform for podcasters with head offices in Nairobi.

The partnership deal entails podcast distribution and will see Afripods distribute all podcasts produced by Portable Voices Podcast Network.

In addition to that, Afripods will also produce its podcasts (Afripods Originals) through their Afripods platform as well as other distribution channels available both in the Pan-African region and internationally.

A quick primer, Portable Voices has been around for a few months now since it opened its first podcast recording studio in Nairobi in May 2019. The platform offers an open space for publishers, broadcasters, entertainers, and business information providers to produce high quality encrypted digital audiobooks, podcasts, and radio programs.

Speaking of the partnership, Portable Voices Founder Allan Niongira said, “ We’re excited about this new partnership with Afripods.”

“Podcast consumption is really growing in Kenya and across Africa. This new partnership allows us to continue producing more local podcasts. With Afripods as our distribution partner, we will be able to reach more listeners across the region,” he added.

Henrik Barck, Founder & CEO of Afripods, said, “We are very happy about this partnership with Portable Voices which is our very first such agreement. Allan with his team has made a great impression on me and we look forward to work closely with his team under our “Afripods Studios” concept going forward.”

Podcasting has been growing immensely not only in Africa but also in the global markets. Growth in podcasts has been cited to the rising need of businesses and individuals to share their messages with the world.

In 2006 alone, data from Buzzsprout indicated that only 22% of consumers knew about podcasting, but that figure has grown about three folds now standing at over 64%.

‘’This data is a clear indication of how huge the market for podcasts is especially in Africa. Audio format is proving to be quite lucrative and it is time for marketers to crystallize the sense that podcasting or audio content is an important and powerful marketing platform,’’ Nixon Kanali, Portable Voices Co-founder said.

Portable Voices has also announced expansion plans as well as modernization of its recording studios to cater to the increasing demands.

Through this partnership, you can listen to Portable Voices podcasts on Afripods, which can be accessed through the Afripods Android and iOS app or via Afripods official website www.afripods.com. Once on the app or the website, search for Portable Voices to access all their podcasts.
