Kenyan startup Nurse in Hand has signed a memorandum of understanding with Apla Tech Company to develop blockchain-based mobile app that would store critical patient data and would enable accurate diagnostics of diseases.

The MOU was which signed during the Trescon World Blockchain Summit held in Nairobi last week will see Apla

Nurse in Hand is a web and mobile accident and emergency response platform, that geo-maps the accident and emergency response ecosystem of Kenya. It then activates the platform to alert the registered paramedics within geo-mapped radius, ambulance and air rescue services available, police stations, and classified hospitals within the vicinity.

The aim of the application according to the company is to reduce the rate of fatalities caused by the slow response of paramedics and ambulances at road and home accidents.

To reduce the distance and response time, the paramedics are located in Emergency Care Centres within geo-mapped locations, equipped with life-saving GPS-tracked Emergency Kits. In case of trapped accident victims, vehicle-cutting equipment stored at the Emergency Care Centres will be used instead of the rudimentary axes and machetes which aggravate injury and cause death.

Apla Tech Company blockchain platform uses “Smart Law” technology that operates above the level of protocols. Unlike Smart Contracts, Smart Laws can evaluate and rectify errors where there are program contradictions or flaws in the algorithm. Apla’s blockchain platform has an intuitive interface coupled with simple syntax, which allows to use it easily by non-technical staff.
