Sanlam Allianz Kenya posts 21% profit growth as integration strengthens its business and SME ambitions

Sanlam Allianz General Insurance (Kenya) Limited increased its profit after tax by 21% in 2025, as higher insurance revenue and the integration of its former Jubilee Allianz and Sanlam General operations strengthened the insurer’s financial position.

Profit before tax increased to Ksh344 million in 2025, up from Ksh284 million a year earlier, while insurance revenue rose to Ksh7.9 billion from Ksh7.4 billion.

The insurer credited the improved performance to the integration of the two businesses, alongside investments in technology, internal processes and staff capabilities. The changes have strengthened its balance sheet and are expected to support improvements in customer service.

The company highlighted the results during its Annual Excellence Awards gala held at its head office in Westlands, Nairobi, where it recognized agents, bancassurance partners and brokers for their contribution to the business.

Sanlam Allianz General Insurance (Kenya) Limited Chief Executive Officer George Kuria said the achievements marked a business that had regained its footing and was ready for long-term growth, and described the company’s intermediaries as central to the insurer’s performance.

“These achievements reflect renewed momentum in the business and growing confidence in our brand and market approach,” Mr. Kuria said. “Bringing together deeper expertise, stronger capabilities and broader experience means we can better serve our customers and partners. As we build on this progress, a key priority is growing our SME business with simple, relevant solutions that meet the needs of enterprises in Kenya and enhance our customers’ experience.”

Seven agents were rewarded with trips to China, while another 12 won getaways to Diani. Other agents also received recognition for consistency, discipline and their commitment to customers.

The awards covered several performance categories. Agents were recognised for growth, product mix, profitability and overall performance, including the Agent of the Year award. Bancassurance partners competed across growth, product mix, profitability and Bank of the Year categories.

Brokers were recognised in five categories: Retention Champions, Growth, Product Mix, Profitability and Rising Stars. The Rising Stars category was introduced to recognize emerging local talent in Kenya’s insurance industry.

The awards follow the completion of SanlamAllianz’s regional rebrand after the merger and come as the Kenyan business looks to build on its improved financial performance.

Furthermore, the insurer said it will continue working with its intermediary network as it enters the remainder of 2026, with SME insurance identified as a key area of growth as it seeks to offer simpler and more relevant solutions to Kenyan businesses.
