Samsung’s Galaxy S26 FE launches in Kenya at KSh103,000 with Samsung Care+, long-term updates and a 24-month warranty
Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy S26 FE in Kenya, with the latest Fan Edition smartphone starting at KSh103,000.
The device comes with a 24-month warranty and Samsung Care+, adding protection to the phone’s value proposition as Samsung positions it as a more accessible entry point into the Galaxy S-series.
The Galaxy S26 FE combines a large display, a triple-camera system, Galaxy AI features and long-term software support. It also introduces several camera and video tools aimed at users who create, edit and share content directly from their phones.
Galaxy S26 FE brings a large display and refined design
The Galaxy S26 FE features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering a large viewing area for streaming, gaming, photography and everyday productivity.
Samsung’s describes the phone as having a slim design, durable materials, balanced proportions and a refined finish. The device follows the broader Galaxy design language, with a flat display and a vertically arranged rear-camera system.
The phone is also equipped with a 4,900mAh battery, 45W wired charging and IP68 water and dust resistance. These features place it above Samsung’s conventional mid-range devices in several areas while maintaining a distinction between the FE and the company’s main flagship models.
Galaxy S26 FE focuses on photography and video
Samsung is placing considerable emphasis on the Galaxy S26 FE’s imaging capabilities.
The rear-camera system is supported by the company’s ProVisual Engine, which Samsung says enhances image quality and preserves detail across different shooting conditions. The company also highlights improvements in colour, clarity and image processing.
The front camera is an upgraded 12MP selfie camera. Samsung says it provides a wider view, allowing more people and background scenery to fit into a shot.
For video, the Galaxy S26 FE introduces a new Horizontal Lock feature within Super Steady Video. The feature combines expanded optical angles with gyroscope and acceleration sensors to recognise the direction of gravity and keep footage level, even when the phone is rotated.
The phone also includes My FanCam, which is designed to keep subjects centred in videos as they move. This could be useful when recording children, sporting activities, performances or other moving subjects.
Another camera-related feature is Audio eraser, which is designed to reduce distracting noise from audio and video so that voices and other sounds are easier to hear.
Galaxy AI extends beyond photo editing
Galaxy AI is a central part of the S26 FE experience, with features covering communication, productivity, content creation and personalisation.
For communication, the phone includes Call assist, which offers real-time translation during voice calls and can allow a call assistant to answer calls. Writing assist provides tools to compose, organise and improve text, alongside chat translation and suggested replies. Interpreter supports live translation of spoken conversations through voice or text output.
The productivity tools include Note assist, which can automatically format, summarise, spell-check and translate text. It can also transcribe and summarise recordings, while allowing users to decorate notes with AI-generated covers and images.
Transcript assist is designed to transcribe voice and call recordings into text before summarising them. Browsing assist can summarise webpages, translate text and images, read webpage summaries aloud and provide highlights from selected articles and posts.
For creative work, Photo assist allows users to add, move or remove objects from images and transform photos into different artistic styles. Creative studio can turn sketches into artwork, create images from text descriptions and transform photos into cartoons, paintings and more.
Samsung also lists Weather wallpaper, which changes a user’s photo based on the time and weather, as well as Now brief, Now nudge and Health assist for personalised information and recommendations.
The availability and functionality of some AI features may vary depending on the application, region, account requirements and whether an internet connection is needed.
One UI 9 and long-term software support
The Galaxy S26 FE runs on Samsung’s One UI 9, which the company presents as a more deeply integrated software experience built around AI-assisted actions, personalisation and productivity.
Samsung says the software can suggest useful actions, assist with routine tasks and adapt to personal tastes and usage patterns. This places the software experience alongside the hardware as one of the phone’s main selling points.
The S26 FE also comes with seven generations of operating system upgrades and seven years of security updates. That extended support period is significant for buyers who intend to keep the device for several years, particularly as smartphone prices continue to make frequent upgrades less practical.
Exynos 2500 powers the Fan Edition
The Galaxy S26 FE is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2500 processor.
The processor is part of the phone’s positioning within the wider Galaxy range. Unlike the original Galaxy S20 FE, which was closely associated with the idea of bringing much of the flagship hardware experience to a lower price, newer FE models take a more selective approach.
Samsung’s launch material highlights the processor’s CPU, GPU and NPU capabilities, with performance improvements compared with the previous Galaxy S25 FE. The company cites a 51% improvement in NPU performance, 24% in GPU performance and 11% in CPU performance.
Actual performance will depend on factors including usage, device settings, cooling conditions, software and applications.
Kenya price, warranty and Care+
The Samsung Galaxy S26 FE starts at KSh103,000 in Kenya.
The local launch package includes a 24-month warranty and Samsung Care+. The additional protection is intended to provide cover for eligible accidental damage, subject to the terms, conditions and applicable service fees of the Care+ plan.
The inclusion of Care+ gives the phone a stronger ownership proposition, particularly for a device with a large AMOLED display and a multi-camera system. However, buyers should confirm the precise coverage, repair conditions and exclusions before purchase.
The final value assessment will also depend on the price difference between the Galaxy S26 FE and the regular Galaxy S26, as well as competing smartphones in the same price category.
A changing Fan Edition formula
The Galaxy S26 FE shows how Samsung’s Fan Edition strategy has changed since the Galaxy S20 FE.
The original model’s appeal was straightforward: offer much of the flagship experience while cutting the price through selected compromises. The newer FE approach is more focused on preserving the features users encounter most often, including the display, cameras, battery, durability, AI tools and software support.
That gives the S26 FE a distinct role within Samsung’s portfolio, although the growing capabilities of the company’s A-series smartphones have made the space more competitive.
