Jumia Food and KFC expand food delivery services to Meru and Nanyuki

Jumia Food has announced the expansion of its operations to Meru and Nanyuki. This is part of Jumia Food’s strategy to deepen its reach in secondary cities in Kenya.

With the expansion, consumers in Meru and Nanyuki can now order their favourite KFC meals from the comfort of their homes. KFC is the leading restaurant chain in Kenya with over 35 branches across the country, and its partnership with Jumia Food will provide consumers in Meru and Nanyuki with a convenient and reliable way to order food.

“We are excited to bring Jumia Food to Meru and Nanyuki,” said Sonali Patel, Jumia Food Commercial Director. “There is a growing demand for online food delivery in these secondary cities, and we are confident that our partnership with KFC will meet the needs of local consumers.”

The expansion of Jumia Food to Meru and Nanyuki shows the growing demand for online food delivery in Kenya. The country’s online food delivery market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15% over the next five years.

“As a business, we continuously aim to make access to our menu easier and create new channels for connecting with our customers across all our restaurants in Kenya,” said Jacques Theunissen, Kuku Foods East Africa CEO. “The changing consumer trends around online ordering, specifically in Nanyuki where the demand for delivery has grown, have led us to partner with e-commerce players like Jumia Food to provide this service. Residents of Nanyuki can now get our finger-lickin’ good chicken delivered to them at the comfort of their homes or wherever they are.”

Jumia Food is already operating in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, and Nakuru, and the company plans to expand to more secondary cities in the coming months.

“We are committed to providing Kenyans with convenient and reliable ways to order food, regardless of where they live,” said Patel. “We believe that the expansion to Meru and Nanyuki is just the beginning, and we look forward to bringing Jumia Food to more secondary cities in Kenya in the future.”
