Insurance and Asset Management provider Allianz welcomes its global IT provider to Africa

Insurance and asset managers Allianz has launched its Allianz Technology’s activities (AZTA) in Africa to provide IT services exclusively to Allianz Africa Operational Entities.

The company which has been operating in Africa for more than 100 years has started its tech operations on the continent through the reconversion of an operational entity in Côte d’Ivoire that became its operational hub.

This launch is the result of a process initiated at the end of 2020 and of many months of collaboration between Allianz Technology, Allianz SE as well as different departments of the Allianz Africa hub.

Allianz Africa says AZTA will strengthen the role of its IT teams and enable them to better support the region’s transformation while providing more value to local businesses.

“Our IT colleagues will have the opportunity to work in a big community of experts, providing the entire Allianz Group with excellent services in terms of technology and innovation”, said Cécile Lebrun, Africa Program Lead at Allianz Technology.

Allianz Technology is the global IT provider for Allianz with more than 10,000 employees located in 36 countries. The entity oversees the full spectrum of information systems and digitalization: Large IT infrastructure projects, data centers, networks, security, application platforms… Concretely, Allianz Technology delivers full-scale solutions for Allianz in the digital age.

“The Allianz Technology family is thrilled about this new project and we look forward to new collaborations and achievements by providing Allianz entities in Africa with global IT solutions, in line with Allianz global digitalization strategy.”  Alexander Heinrich, Head of Global System Integration in charge of Africa at Allianz Technology said.

Considered as a major lever of Allianz transformation on the continent, AZTA is expected to become Allianz Africa innovation tool per excellence and to offer simple insurance solutions adapted to its different markets.

Delphine Traoré, Regional CEO of Allianz Africa said “While the insurance penetration rate on the continent is one of the lowest in the world, Africans are open to new technologies. With AZTA, we have a unique opportunity to provide them with appealing solutions,” she continued: “We will also be able to better support the resilience of local economies by making protection solutions more accessible to Africans”.

Allianz is now a leading insurer and investor in key markets in the CIMA zone and enjoys strong positioning in Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana.

Along with Allianz recent acquisitions in Nigeria, Morocco and East Africa, Allianz Africa says this new deployment reflects the group’s ambition to become a leader in key markets in Africa and its commitment to the continent.
