Infinix NOTE 7 is the company’s latest device in the country, while Tecno Mobile has also availed the Camon 15 yesterday in Kenya. These two devices are almost selling at the same price but let’s help you make a more informed decision if you’re juggling between buying either of the two. Here’s a spec showdown between Tecno Camon 15 Vs Infinix Note 7.
Design
Given that the two are both owned by a single company, Infinix and Tecno phones are often looking similar when it comes to design, with a few takes here and there. And for these two, that doesn’t change at all. Both Tecno Camon 15 and Infinix NOTE 7 have skinny bezels and hole-punch cutouts for the selfie camera. The bottom chin is slightly larger, however. The fingerprint sensor is available on both devices, but Infinix NOTE 7 has it hidden on the side than the rear-mounted one on the Tecno counterpart. On display, both have flat screens with no curvatures at all. Infinix NOTE 7 is available in either Med Blue, Milan Black, or Apple Green while Camon 15 can be bought in either Shoal Gold, Fascinating Purple, or Jade.
Display
Infinix NOTE 7 : Size — 6.95-inch IPS LCD display
Resolution – HD+ (720 x 1640 pixels) ( ~258 ppi)
Tecno Camon 15: Size – 6.6-inch IPS LCD
Resolution – HD+ (720 x 1600 pixels) (~266 ppi)
From the specs above, the displays of the two devices are almost identical with few differences in both size and the number of pixels per inch. On daily usage, you will barely detect any differences between the two. Notably, Infinix NOTE 7 display has Corning’s Gorilla Glass film on top of the screen for extra protection, which lacks on the Camon 15.
Camera
Infinix NOTE 7: Quad camera setup; 48 MP, f/1.8, (wide) + 2 MP, f/2.4 (macro) + 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth) + 2 MP, dedicated video camera
Camera Features: Bokeh, macro photography, panorama, HDR
Tecno Camon 15: Quad Camera setup; 48 MP(main) + 2MP(secondary) + 2 MP(bokeh) + 2 MP(AI lens)
Camera Features: 8x zoom, EIS, macro photography, HDR, Bokeh, panorama
Both phones have four camera lenses on the rear, with the Infinix NOTE 7 having them placed in a circular camera bump, while Tecno still maintains its rectangular bump. You also get bokeh, depth lenses and AI capabilities on the two. Maximum video resolution that can be achieved is 1080p at just 30fps.
Besides, there is also a 16 MP lens for selfies available placed on the display housed in punch-hole cutouts.
Hardware and Performance
Infinix NOTE 7: Mediatek Helio G70 (12 nm) Octa-core SoC + Mali-G52 2EEMC2 GPU
Tecno Camon 15: Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 (12 nm) SoC + PowerVR GE8320 GPU
Under the hood, the two are powered by chipsets fabricated from similar processing technology. It’s safe to say that these two devices won’t have significant differences when it comes to performance. However, MediaTek’s Helio G70 chipset comes from the company’s gaming-focused chipset line, so you might want to consider that.
Despite that, both phones support 4G LTE network, and Bluetooth 5.0.
On the memory front, Infinix NOTE 7 ships with either 4GB or 6GB of memory paired with either 64GB or 128GB of expandable internal storage. On the other hand, Tecno Camon 15 has only one 4GB/64GB memory configuration, but can still be expanded to 256GB via microSD card as well.
Battery
Both phones are powered by a massive 5,000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery. However, Infinix Note 7 supports 18W fast charging technology, which gives it an edge over the Tecno counterpart.
Software
Out of the box, both phones have Android 10.0 under the hood splashed on top with each company’s proprietary UI. That doesn’t deter these companies to bring system-wide dark mode, a gesture navigation system, among other perks included in Android 10. Infinix NOTE 7 has been added with a little bit more juice like gesture controls for answering and rejecting calls.
Price
The two phones are almost priced the same. Tecno Camon 15 is priced at Ksh 18,000 (Buy it on Jumia here) while Infinix NOTE 7 costs 400 bob more for the standard 4GB/64GB memory variant. (Buy it on Jumia here)
Infinix Note 7 vs Tecno Camon: Which One Should You Buy?
With the slightly variable design, to internal hardware, both phones seem to hold similar power. But with such a minute difference in price, Infinix NOTE 7 offers the better deal here. Note 7 has a slightly larger display for binge-watching Netflix, offers up to 6GB of RAM in case you need more memory, and also has 18W fast charging technology. The company even went further to include Corning’s Glass protection on top of the display.
