The Chinese tech giant Huawei had earlier reported that they would be unveiling their new Kirin processor based on TMSC’s 7nm processing technology. With the Kirin 810, Octa-core SoC Huawei has become the world’s first company to have two SoC’s made from the 7nm manufacturing architecture. Of course, the other 7nm SoC from Huawei is the high-end Kirin 980 processor.
The 7nm Kirin 810 processor will power the upper-midrange devices. The Kirin 810 SoC is made of two Cortex-A76 high-performance Cores clocked at 2.27GHz and six other smaller Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.88GHz. Paired Graphical Processing unit is the Mali Mali-G52 MP6 GPU.
In terms of performance Mali-G52, MP6 GPU has a 162 percentage improvement better than the last generation GPU in the Kirin 710 SoC. Turning on to their closest rival Qualcomm with their Snapdragon 730 SoC Huawei’s Kirin 810 processor performs 11% and 13% better in both single-core and multi-core performance respectively. Mali-G52 MP6 GPU outdoes Qualcomm‘s Adreno 618 GPU stocked in the SDM730 SoC by 44%.
It’s improved performance is dependent on Huawei’s DaVinci NPU which is based on the Rubik’s Cube Quantitative Stereo Arithmetic Unit that makes the chip better in terms of AI outperforming even the high-end chip from Qualcomm, SDM855.
Kirin 810 will first hit the market as Huawei Nova 5 powerhouse before launching in other midrange devices from Huawei, and it’s child company Honor.
