The LG Signature OLED TV R, the world’s first rollable TV is finally going on sale

At CES, LG Electronics outlined its entire TV lineup for 2019. One notable TV, the LG Signature OLED TV R (65R9) with a display that can roll up and disappear into the base is one of these TVs that are expected to go on sale this year.

The 65-inch display LG Signature OLED TV R (65R9) is actually the world’s first rollable TV and according to LG, it will go on sale in the US before the end of 2019. Remember LG first revealed this TV to the world at CES 2019, and now it is sending it out to the world.

LG’s is describing its rollable OLED TV is a true game-changer, freeing users from the limitations of the wall and allowing them to curate their own personal space. Using the flexibility of an OLED panel made of organic materials, the LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R can transform itself to offer three different viewing options – Full View, Line View and Zero View.

Like the rest of the range that was announced last week, the LG R-Series will be voice assistant-compatible with support for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. In addition to this, the R-Series will support Siri via Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, making this one of the first TVs to support all three major smart platforms. With AirPlay 2, users can easily play videos directly from their Apple devices, iTunes and other video apps, music or photos to their LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R.

Line View allows the LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R to be partially unrolled, allowing for management of specific tasks that do not require the full TV screen. In Line View, users can choose from features such as Clock mode to check the time and weather, Frame mode to enjoy family photos shared from a smartphone, Mood mode to create a more relaxing atmosphere as well as others including Music and Home Dashboard.

When in Zero View, all 65 inches of the LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R are hidden from view and tucked away in the base. Even in Zero View, users can enjoy music and other audio content which resonate from the 4.2-channel, 100W front-firing Dolby Atmos audio system. The premium bloodline is clearly evident in the entire unit, from the brushed aluminum casing to the quality wool speaker cover designed by Kvadrat of Denmark.

LG has not said anything about the pricing yet.
