Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G and Redmi Note 10S are coming to Kenya this month


Xiaomi Kenya has announced plans to launch the Redmi Note 10 5G and Redmi Note 10S devices in Kenya on the 25th of June. 

The launch will be streamed via Xiaomi Kenya Facebook Page from 11.30 am. 

It’s interesting that Xiaomi has decided to go with a dual approach with the Redmi Note 10 series this year. The Redmi Note 10 was launched locally in April, and now we will be getting the 5G variant that will be joining a number of other 5G devices already available in the market. 

The Redmi Note 10S on the other hand is an interesting addition to Xiaomi devices already selling in the Kenyan market. This phone comes with some of the typical specs for any smartphone in this segment including a huge battery, a quad-camera set-up, and much more.

Xiaomi Kenya has not yet mentioned how much it plans to price devices, we will have to wait for this to be revealed on the official launch date. It however says the Redmi Note 10 5G will be the Most Affordable 5G Smartphone in Kenya. In the meantime, let’s look at what each of these devices offers in terms of specs.

The Redmi Note 10 5G is the device people like me will be looking forward to. It comes with a number of interesting specs other than the 5G support, of course.  

It comes with a 6.5-inch LCD display with support for Full HD+ resolution at 1080×2400 pixels. This 5G variant also uses an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset.  It will be available in 4 RAM+64GB ROM,  4 GB RAM+128GB ROM and 6GB+128GB ROM options. 

The Redmi Note 10 5G features a triple rear camera set-up that includes a large 48MP primary sensor, 2MP sensor and 2MP depth sensor. On the front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera that also supports video calls. The phone runs MIUI 12.5 is based on Android 11 and packs a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging via USB Type C port.

The Redmi Note 10S is a slightly more powerful device than the  Redmi Note 10.  Just like the Redmi Note 10 5G, the Note 10S comes in three variants – 6+64GB, 6+128GB and 8+128GB.

We are also getting a  6.43-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G95 processor.

The Redmi Note 10S runs on MIUI 12.5 operating system, based on Android 11 and is powered by a 5000mAh battery. 

For the cameras, the Redmi Note 10S packs a 64-megapixel primary main camera with an f/1.79 aperture; an 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture; a 2-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture, and a 2-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture. The selfie camera is 13-megapixel with an f/2.45 aperture.

Pricing and availability 

As earlier mentioned, Xiaomi Kenya is yet to mention the prices but says that the devices will be the best the Kenyan market has ever witnessed. We will be looking forward to this. 

Xiaomi will also be offering a 24+1 Months warranty for all Redmi Note 10 Series devices.Ramadhan Hassan Xiaomi’s local marketing lead confirmed this in Twitter Update.  

On the launch date, Xiaomi will also be giving away FREE Smartphones to live viewers. This should entice you to tune in and follow the launch.
