Yellow Card hires ex-Monzo executive Ross Everett as group CFO

Stablecoin payments firm Yellow Card has appointed former Monzo Bank finance executive Ross Everett as its group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as it expands beyond Africa into Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

Mr Everett joins from a career spanning banking, financial services and high-growth technology firms, including finance leadership roles at UK digital lender Monzo and Deutsche Bank. He has also worked with Barclays and audit firm KPMG.

At Monzo, he served as group financial controller, overseeing financial reporting, control and governance.

In his new role, Mr Everett will lead Yellow Card’s global finance function, with responsibility for financial strategy, planning, reporting, treasury, capital management and governance, the company said on Tuesday.

The appointment follows Yellow Card’s recent $40 million (Sh5.2 billion) strategic funding round, which the firm said went towards its expansion into Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

“As stablecoin infrastructure moves from promise to scale, we need financial leadership that can keep pace. Ross has built that discipline before, and he’ll build it here,” said Yellow Card co-founder and chief executive Chris Maurice.

Yellow Card provides infrastructure that allows banks, fintechs and multinational companies to access US dollars, manage treasury and move money across borders using stablecoins, digital tokens pegged to currencies such as the dollar.

The firm supports more than 50 currencies and counts Visa and Western Union among its customers.

Mr Everett said the company’s appeal lay in its ability to move money quickly, cheaply and reliably across borders.

“Having spent a significant part of my career building the financial discipline behind hypergrowth, my focus now is building the same foundations at Yellow Card, so the company can scale globally without losing that rigor,” he said.

The hire adds to Yellow Card’s executive bench as the company, which built its business on emerging-market coverage, seeks to grow its global footprint.
