Enterprise digital asset infrastructure provider, Cregis has expanded its operations into Africa as it seeks to tap into the continent’s rapidly growing digital asset market and rising demand for enterprise-grade blockchain infrastructure.
The company said it has already onboarded customers in Africa and is scaling its presence with an initial focus on Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa, where digital asset adoption and fintech innovation continue to accelerate. Its target customers include stablecoin payment providers, cryptocurrency exchanges, over-the-counter (OTC) trading firms and digital banks.
The expansion comes amid strong growth in Africa’s digital asset ecosystem. According to Chainalysis, Sub-Saharan Africa recorded more than USD 205 billion in on-chain transaction value between July 2024 and June 2025, representing a 52% year-on-year increase. The growth has been powered by increasing stablecoin usage, cross-border payments and broader adoption of digital financial services, alongside improving regulatory frameworks in several markets.
Cregis Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Shawn Yan said Africa is entering a new phase of digital asset adoption, where businesses require secure and compliant infrastructure to support long-term growth.
He noted that as digital asset businesses mature, their priorities shift from adoption to building secure operations that can meet regulatory expectations while supporting business expansion.
To support this demand, Cregis provides an integrated platform that enables businesses to manage digital asset wallets, custody, fund flows, governance and compliance through a single infrastructure. Its solutions include Wallet-as-a-Service (WaaS), a payment engine, TronGas and Crypto Off-Ramp services, allowing enterprises to streamline digital asset operations without relying on multiple technology providers.
Additionally, the company said its platform is designed for a wide range of organizations, including fintech firms, crypto-native businesses and regulated financial institutions that require secure and scalable digital asset infrastructure.
As part of its African growth strategy, Cregis plans to strengthen its presence through local partnerships, customer engagement initiatives and participation in industry events across Africa.
Yan added that the company views Africa as a strategic long-term market and aims to support businesses as digital assets become increasingly integrated into the region’s financial services ecosystem.
