Access Bank Kenya and NBK Launch Seamless Shared Banking Services Across Branch Networks

Access Bank (Kenya) PLC and National Bank of Kenya (NBK) have announced a major step in their ongoing integration process, unveiling a new shared service initiative that allows customers of either bank to access a range of in-branch services across both institutions.

The strategic collaboration means that customers can now walk into any of the more than 100 combined branches nationwide and carry out essential banking transactions — including viewing account details, depositing and withdrawing cash, and transferring funds — regardless of which bank they originally opened their account with.

This milestone marks a significant move towards creating a seamless banking experience, improving convenience, and expanding financial access across Kenya. Both institutions have assured customers that their existing accounts, cards, cheque books, and digital platforms remain valid and that all deposits continue to be secure.

“I’m pleased with the strides we have made to get here,” said Ralph Opara, Managing Director of Access Bank Kenya. “By opening our networks to each other’s customers, we are making banking simpler, faster, and more accessible. This integration reflects our commitment to delivering greater choice, enhanced digital services, and stronger financial solutions.”

As the integration deepens, customers can expect an expanded range of services that leverage NBK’s strong public sector and retail legacy alongside Access Bank’s global network and digital innovation capabilities. Retail and SME clients will benefit from broader branch access and enhanced digital platforms, while corporate and multinational customers will gain improved support for cross-border trade finance and treasury management through Access Bank’s international hubs in the UK, Dubai, China, Malta, France, India, Lebanon, and Hong Kong.

Public sector clients, meanwhile, will continue to benefit from NBK’s deep sector expertise, now boosted by digitized collections and disbursements — and greater capacity to support Kenya’s financial inclusion agenda.

“Our customers remain at the heart of everything we do,” said George Odhiambo, Managing Director of NBK. “This synergy with Access Bank Kenya demonstrates how collaboration in the banking sector can deliver tangible value. Together, we are building an institution that not only meets customer needs but also empowers communities and contributes to Kenya’s economic growth.”

The shared services initiative is a key milestone in the two banks’ mission to simplify banking, enhance customer experience, and strengthen Kenya’s evolving financial ecosystem.

With this rollout, NBK and Access Bank Kenya customers can look forward to improved convenience, fewer transaction barriers, and greater access to financial services across the country.
