4DX Ventures Appoints Mimi Alemayehou and Kurankye Sekyi-Otu as Senior Advisors

4DX Ventures, a leading pan-African venture capital firm, has appointed Mimi Alemayehou and Kurankye Sekyi-Otu as Senior Advisors as it continues to expand its platform and deepen its impact across Africa.

Since its first African investment in 2013, 4DX has raised three institutionally backed funds and now manages approximately $200 million in assets. In 2024, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) joined as an investor with a $10.5M commitment, reflecting 4DX’s ability to attract global institutions.

The firm backs bold tech founders across sectors including FinTech, E-commerce, Climate, EdTech, and Creative Industries, with a portfolio spanning 22 African countries. Notable investments include Flutterwave, Andela, Autochek, Wasoko, and MaxAB.

Alemayehou, a global development finance leader, brings experience from Mastercard, Blackstone, OPIC, and the African Development Bank. Sekyi-Otu, Founder & CEO of Capoeira Partners, has held senior roles in hedge funds and asset management firms in Canada.

“Bringing on Mimi and Kurankye is a pivotal step as African tech scales globally,” said Walter Baddoo, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at 4DX. “Their expertise will strengthen our founder support, global relationships, and long-term strategy.”

Through 4DX Labs, the firm provides hands-on portfolio support across product, marketing, engineering, and fundraising—facilitating major transactions like the MaxAB-Wasoko merger, the largest tech merger in Africa to date.

Looking ahead, 4DX Ventures is exploring growth-stage investments and emerging areas like the creative economy, with Alemayehou and Sekyi-Otu playing key roles in strategy and global capital market engagement.
