Nigerian money transfer company Flutterwave has appointed Marshall Lux as a senior advisor. Marshall is a former Chief Risk Officer at America’s JP Morgan Chase and brings a wealth of experience to one of Africa’s largest fintechs.
His experience cuts across model building, stress testing, portfolio management and optimization, line setting and increases, fraud, regulation, cyber, and operations risk, among other fields.
Flutterwave co-founder and CEO Olugbenga GB Agboola said, “We are fortunate to have the opportunity to draw upon Marshall’s decades of world-class experience from companies such as JP Morgan Chase, BCG and McKinsey. Robust risk management and compliance requirements has always been (and continue to be) our highest priority as we scale the business.”
This year, Flutterwave has seen a restructuring of its top executives. In July, the company hired former Goldman Sachs’ Managing Director, Gurbhej Dhillon as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
In tapping from some of the world’s leading financial institutions, Flutterwave hopes to harness global best practices, improve its systems and build outstanding experiences for its customers.
Upon his appointment, Marshall said, “I am thrilled to be advising Flutterwave. They are clearly a winner and an important company in the African payments ecosystem. I look forward to working with the ever-growing team, which is attracting world-class talent.”
Marshal is also a board member and advisor to several companies in various industries cutting across consumer credit, wealth, insurance, and cybersecurity.
He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Princeton University and received an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker and Ford Scholar.
