Infinix NOTE 11 Pro Review: The Infinix NOTE 11 Pro has been available in the Kenyan market for a few weeks now. Infinix officially unveiled this device last month noting that with this device, it’s bringing faster, stronger and more efficient power and performance leveraging a unique combination of advanced technologies to create its impressive, yet affordable line of smartphones.
The company is selling this device at Ksh 28,499 and it’s one of the first devices to be powered with MediaTek’s new Helio G96 ultra-gaming processor.
Infinix sent us a review unit which we have been using for like three weeks now. We did not manage to do an unboxing video for the device though. The phone succeeds the NOTE 10 Pro which we really loved. We even described it as the best smartphone the company has ever made. Infinix went big with the NOTE 10 and it’s the same thing it has done with the NOTE 11 Pro
The phone comes packed in a neat bright green package containing the usual accessories – a transparent case, a 33W fast charger and a type-A to Type-c USB cable, a pair of earphones and of course the phone. This packaging, combined with all the other specs that we will be talking about later on in this review article, where does the Infinix NOTE 11 Pro stand? Here are our quick thoughts.
Infinix NOTE 11 Pro Design and Display
The Infinix NOTE 11 Pro is a pretty thick phone and our Haze Green review unit looks pretty cool. Remember the phone is available in two other colour options – Mist Blue and Mithril Grey.
It’s a huge phone featuring a 120Hz 6.95″ FHD+Ultra Fluid Display which we really like. We are also getting a 180Hz touch sample rate making the user experience quite interesting. This is a good upgrade. You’ll have the option to choose an Auto-switch refresh rate that is available in some premium devices like the iPhone 13.
At the top centre of the screen, there’s a big camera hole that houses the selfie camera. It’s quite big and I find it distracting.
The body and frame are largely plastic but the matte finish makes the phone look like it’s made of metal. Looks good. At the back panel, there’s a rectangular camera module in the top-right corner that houses the main camera. There is also some Infinix branding towards the bottom, and volume and power buttons on the right side.
We are also getting a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button, similar to what we saw on the Infinix NOTE 10 Pro.
The left side has the SIM tray, while at the bottom is where you have the 3.5mm headphone jack, loudspeaker, and USB Type-C port.
Infinix NOTE 11 Pro performance and battery life
As we mentioned at the beginning of this article, the Infinix NOTE 11 Pro is among the first devices to be powered with MediaTek’s new Helio G96 ultra-gaming processor. The phone also comes with some 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Here is the thing though, there’s a RAM extension feature that allows you to upgrade your RAM to 11GB from 8GB. This is pretty good for heavy users who want better performance with the device.
When it comes to performance, the phone gets everything right – From photography to simple gaming, socials, everything runs just smooth. Apps launched quickly, multitasking was easy and switching between multiple apps was also very fast. . .
MediaTek Helio G96 features two powerful Arm Cortex-A76 processor cores clocked up to a speedy 2.05GHz in its octa-core CPU, and Arm Mali-G57 provides great graphics performance.
For the software, the smartphone runs XOS 10.0 on top of Android 11. Also, the phone might also be receiving the Android 12 update when it finally rolls out.
With XOS 10.0, we are getting one of the best software experiences from an Infinix phone.
The Infinix NOTE 11 Pro is powered by a huge 5000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging. The battery does a pretty decent job and is able to last you for more than a day on normal use.
Infinix NOTE 11 Pro Cameras
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Infinix NOTE 11 Pro on the rear packs a 64-megapixel primary camera that we have seen in most mid-range devices being unveiled in the market, especially this year. There is also a 13MP telephoto lens that offers 30X digital zoom and a 2MP depth sensor.
Interesting that Infinix decided to leave out an ultra-wide camera which has become the default secondary camera lens on many smartphones. Well, the camera does a pretty good job. We are also getting a number of camera modes including AI, Beauty, Super Night, Slow Motion, the Pro mode among others. Check sample shots below.
The selfie camera on the other hand is a 13-megapixel sensor. Check sample shots we took below under different modes.
Should you buy the Infinix NOTE 11 Pro?
Just like the Infinix ZERO X, this is one of the best devices we have seen from Infinix this year. The key selling point for this device is the Helio G96 ultra-gaming processor which makes the phone a good buy for anyone looking to enjoy a smooth smartphone experience.
Again, just as we said in our review of NOTE 10, the huge size that we are also getting on the NOTE 11 might not appeal to everyone but Infinix tried to get everything right. From good performance, good design, very decent cameras and a price tag of Ksh.28,499, the phone is a great option to consider compared to what the competition is offering in the local market. You can buy one here.
