How To Apply For The Facebook and Reuters Free Digital Journalism Course

In May this year, The Facebook Journalism Project and Reuters launched a free e-learning program to support journalists across Africa to build a strong foundation in digital reporting and editing.

Known as the Reuters Digital Journalism Course, the program is open to journalists from different countries including South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda, and Ethiopia.

The program curriculum was developed by Reuters and includes modules on digital news gathering, news verification and reporting, publishing on social media, wellness and resilience training while reporting.

“With news media firmly in the digital age, being able to use digital platforms safely and effectively is essential,” said Gina Chua, Executive Editor, Reuters.

“The Reuters Digital Journalism Course offers best practices from Reuters journalists around the world to provide the foundation for sound journalism, whether you’re a budding journalist or a seasoned one looking for a refresher.”

Facebook said it is proud to partner with Reuters to launch this new e-learning program and help the region’s journalists build strong foundational knowledge as they navigate the changing digital news landscape.

This program follows Facebook’s partnership with Reuters to hold an e-learning program that helped newsrooms around the world equip themselves to identify manipulated media.

Interested journalists can submit their application for The Facebook and Reuters Free Digital Journalism Course  here. They will also receive a certificate on completion of the course.
