OnePlus 7 Pro launched: Price, specifications and availability

The Chinese company OnePlus has just released another device in addition to the OnePlus lineage. OnePlus had been in the light since their first release of the OnePlus One back in 2011, a device with premium features for less. Since then, OnePus has been keeping it premium and cheap, which has worked for them and lead to their great success.

OnePlus 7 Pro is the higher variant to the OnePlus 7 that will be launched later in June. The launching of devices in this pattern isn’t conventional, however, the company has its focus on the US market for the early launch of the OnePlus 7 Pro ahead of the OnePlus 7.

OnePlus 7 Pro features a compact body design with a 6.67-inch curved fluid-AMOLED panel with QHD+ resolution (3120 x 1440p, 516ppi). Both the front and the back of the device is crafted from glass with an aluminum frame support incorporated. The device has a 19:9 screen to body ratio thanks to the absence of a display notch and presence of a popup selfie camera.

Under the display is a fingerprint sensor. The display has a high 90Hz refresh rate that makes the general user experience feel smooth, unlike in the previous OnePlus 6/6T. The big display is powered by a non-removable 4000mAh Li-Po battery with fast charging capability(Uses 30W warp charge)

Talking about the camera, OnePlus hasn’t hit a miss on this one. The main camera is a triple setup with a 48MP main lens, an ultrawide angle view 16MP lens and a third 8MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom capabilities.

The selfie camera, on the other hand, is a motorized pop-up 16MP lens with an f/2.0 aperture. The main camera features OIS, dual-LED dual-tone flash, panorama mode, and HDR mode. Video shots can be taken at either 720p, 1080p up to 2160p.

Just one day after launch OnePlus 7 Pro has become the third best performing camera ever tested on DXOMARK in terms of both photo and video trailing closely behind the Huawei P30 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G edition.

The device is powered by Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 855 chip that powers most premium devices in the market. Paired with the Qualcomm SDM855 chip is an Octa-Core CPU with an Adreno 640 GPU. While the device runs on the latest Android 9 Pie, there’s OxygenOS version 9 on top. With the OnePlus 7, Pro 2 years of software and three years of security updates are guaranteed.

OnePlus 7 Pro comes in three variants with either 8/12GB RAM, 256GB ROM or a 6GB RAM with 128GB of internal storage. The memory is however not expandable via microSD card.

If you still prefer the headphone jack, OnePlus 7 Pro isn’t for you. However, the device has Bluetooth 5.0 that has a broader signal range as compared to the predecessors, which should be great for a wireless start. The USB connector is a USB 2.1 type C. NFC is supported, but there’s no radio support. OnePlus 7 Pro supports both GSM, CDMA, HSPA and LTE connections.

OnePlus 7 Pro will soon be available on the market at a starting price of $669 (approx. Ksh 67,000) for the 6GB/128GB, $699(approx. Ksh 70,000) for 8GB/256GB variant and $749 (approx. Ksh 75,000) for the upper 12GB/256GB variant.
