Samsung teases “intelligent” Galaxy S6 camera

Samsung-Galaxy-S6-Waterproof-1024x640With the launch of Galaxy S6 around the corner, Samsung has started teasing the public by dropping hints about its next-generation flagship smartphone.

In a post on the company’s official blog, senior vice president DongHoon Jang wrote about the camera advancements Samsung has made over the years, from the first phone with a camera to the Galaxy S5 and its 16MP snapper.

While the post is primarily focussed on how Samsung is bridging the gap between point-and-shoot cameras and smartphone shooters, it also talks about some features of the camera of its “2015 flagship model,” namely Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Jang wrote that the company has developed an “intelligent” camera technology that will allow users to capture “amazing pictures under any conditions, without having to worry about anything more than just pressing the shutter button.”

According to earlier leaks, Samsung is going to use a 20MP rear camera and 5MP front camera in Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones. However, a recent SamMobile report says that only the S6 Edge will have a 20MP camera, while Galaxy S6 will probably be stuck with a 16MP sensor.

Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge’s camera app is also rumoured to feature a Pro mode, which has three focus options, including a manual focus mode. The Gallery app in the Samsung’s Android 5.0 (Lollipop)-based TouchWiz is also said to be more intuitive.

Samsung will unveil the two smartphones at an event scheduled ahead of Mobile World Congress 2015, while they will hit the market by month-end.
