Bolt and Gebeya Partner to Cut Transport Costs for Service Professionals in Kenya and Ghana

Ride-hailing platform Bolt has announced a strategic partnership with Pan-African talent tech company Gebeya. The collaboration aims to reduce mobility costs for thousands of independent service professionals, launching initially in Kenya and Ghana with plans to expand across the continent.

The initiative targets users of Gebeya’s flagship platform, Gebeya Jitume. Through this partnership, “Jitumers” a network of freelancers and entrepreneurs spanning wellness, home maintenance, and digital services, will receive exclusive ride discounts on Bolt.

Daniel Njomo, Country Sales Manager for Bolt Business Kenya, noted that while service professionals are the backbone of the informal economy, mobility challenges persist.

“Our partnership with Gebeya ensures that thousands of independent workers can move more affordably and reliably, enabling them to focus on delivering quality services and expanding their income opportunities,” Njomo said.

Beyond personal transport for the workers, the partnership outlines a second phase of integration. Jitumers will soon be able to create Bolt Business accounts, allowing them to extend discounted rides to their own clients.

This feature is designed to support service providers who rely on customer visits—such as beauty professionals, tutors, or technicians—by allowing them to bundle safe and affordable transport into their service offering.

Gebeya, which currently connects over 44,000 service providers across 24 countries, views the partnership as a necessary integration of digital labor platforms and on-ground logistics.

“Mobility is central to how our Jitumers operate, whether they are going to a client’s home, a workplace, or moving equipment across town,” said Amadou Daffe, CEO and Co-Founder of Gebeya. “By collaborating with Bolt Business, we are removing a major pain point and empowering service professionals to deliver more, earn more, and build stronger customer relationships.”

Bolt currently operates in 12 African markets. The two companies aim to use this collaboration to create a more connected ecosystem for small business owners, driving job creation and economic growth across their shared markets.
