Human Mobile Devices (HMD), a global leader in smartphone innovation, effectively held its two-day gaming competition, The Ultimate Gamer, at The Waterfront Karen during the weekend.
The tournament, highlighting the expanding e-sports culture in Kenya, drew more than 70 competitors and 200 attendees. Popular mobile games such as FIFA, Tekken, and Call of Duty were showcased in the event, which offered a grand prize of KES 75,000.
The event showcased the growing e-sports community in Kenya, where more than 11 million people consider themselves gamers, a movement bolstered by the rising use of smartphones in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Participants took part in a competition on HMD’s newest device, the HMD Fusion, a smartphone tailored for gaming that features an integrated gaming outfit with buttons and joysticks. HMD further demonstrated its dedication to local gamers by providing two months of complimentary access to Blacknut Cloud Gaming.
