Truecaller Intros Business Solution in Africa As It Hits 43 Million Users on the Continent
The new service will help business easily identify themselves to customers
Truecaller, the popular Caller ID and Spam Blocking app has launched a new business-focused solution to help its users easily identify calls from businesses. Businesses are set to benefit by increasing customer trust with their customers.
According to the company, as smartphone usage increases across the continent, so is spoofing. Spoofing is an act of disguising a communication from an unknown source as being from a known, trusted source.
Truecaller plans to solve the rising cyber fraud and scams using spoofing with its new Truecaller Business Identity solution.
Truecaller Business Identity helps businesses prove their identity to customers through a custom green verified business badge. The badge includes basic business information like name and to help their customers easily identify them.
The Truecaller app helps mobile users easily identify the names behind numbers calling or texting them. It also helps protect users from fraud by filtering and blocking spam calls and SMSes.
The new enterprise solution will be handy for consumers. They will easily prove the authenticity of calls from businesses that Truecaller has verified.
Truecaller Business Identity is especially useful for its African users, who, according to the company, are continuously faced with fraud.
“Fraud continues to be a major issue across Africa, and as a company, Truecaller wanted to provide solutions on a business level as well as a personal level,” said Zakaria Hersi, director of business development at Truecaller Africa during the launch.
With over 43 million active users in Africa or 15 percent of its 270 million-plus global active userbase, the continent is an important market for the company. Truecaller says Africa is a growing market for its different services, with more people switching to smartphones.
The new solution will be first available in Africa.
However, Sony Joy, VP and head of Truecaller Enterprise, says the company is ready to scale the offering to “a significant number of businesses” globally.
Besides helping businesses build trust with their customers, Truecaller says the new solution also helps upstarts and other established businesses boost brand visibility.
