Stablecoins are getting a direct route into Africa’s local payment rails through DCSPay and Kotani Pay

DCSPay, the stablecoin payments platform run by DCS Group, has collaborated with African payment infrastructure provider Kotani Pay to expand stablecoin-funded payouts and local fiat settlement across several African markets.

The partnership will initially launch in Nigeria before extending to Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, South Africa, and Tanzania. It will connect DCSPay’s stablecoin payment infrastructure with Kotani Pay’s local payment networks, allowing businesses to make domestic payouts without establishing separate payment infrastructure in each market.

Under the integration, regulated exchanges using DCSPay will be able to access Kotani Pay’s local payment rails through its API. This will allow stablecoins to be used to fund payouts while recipients receive local currency through established domestic payment channels.

DCSPay will manage the stablecoin side of the transactions, including its wallet and checkout interface, user and merchant onboarding, compliance processes, and initiation of stablecoin transfers. Kotani Pay will manage the local settlement process, converting USDT and USDC into local fiat and facilitating peer-to-peer payouts through mobile money, USSD, and other payment channels.

The arrangement is intended to simplify cross-border payments for businesses moving funds between global markets and African recipients. Instead of developing and maintaining individual local payment connections, businesses using DCSPay will be able to access Kotani Pay’s existing network through a single integration.

“Expanding into new markets shouldn’t require businesses to rebuild their payment infrastructure country by country. By connecting DCSPay with Kotani Pay’s established local rails, we’re making it easier for businesses to extend stablecoin-funded payouts into African markets through a single integration. It’s part of how we’re building DCSPay: giving businesses the infrastructure and connectivity they need to scale stablecoin payments into more markets.” Noted Sean Dong, Senior Director of Business Operations, DCSPay

The partnership also links stablecoin transactions originating in global markets to the local payment methods commonly used by recipients in African countries, which could provide an alternative route for cross-border settlement where traditional payment infrastructure can involve multiple intermediaries and country-specific integrations.

“Our partnership with DCSPay demonstrates how stablecoins, combined with robust local payment rails, can remove friction from cross-border commerce. Whether you’re paying a supplier in Lagos from Singapore or settling merchant payments across Africa, businesses can now move value in real time, securely and efficiently. That is the infrastructure we are building, connecting global capital to local African economies,” said Felix Macharia, CEO, Kotani Pay

The companies said the initial launch in Nigeria will be followed by expansion into five additional African markets. The partnership adds to Kotani Pay’s existing connections to local payment networks across the continent while giving DCSPay a broader route into African markets for stablecoin-based payments and settlement.
