Network International Signs Strategic Digital Payments Agreement with Saudi Sudanese Bank

Network International, a leading fintech company operating across the Middle East and Africa, has signed a strategic processing agreement with Saudi Sudanese Bank, one of Sudan’s prominent financial institutions. The partnership reinforces Network International’s stated commitment to advancing modern, secure, and inclusive digital payments infrastructure in emerging markets.

The agreement positions Network International as a core processing partner for Saudi Sudanese Bank at a moment when Sudan’s financial sector is under pressure to modernise systems that support trade, remittances, and everyday transactions.

Under the agreement, Network International will provide Saudi Sudanese Bank with end-to-end digital payment processing services. These include Mastercard sponsorship, prepaid card issuing, and a range of value-added services intended to support the bank’s broader digital transformation agenda.

Rather than a narrow technology rollout, the scope of the deal reflects a deeper integration of payment infrastructure, placing Network at the centre of the bank’s issuing and processing operations.

Saudi Sudanese Bank has historically played a role in facilitating cross-border economic activity between Sudan and regional markets. Through this partnership, the bank is expected to introduce advanced fintech capabilities aimed at improving trade settlement efficiency and opening new investment and transaction channels between the two markets.

The emphasis on digital payments infrastructure suggests a strategic effort to reduce friction in cross-border transactions, an area where legacy systems have often constrained growth.

The agreement was affirmed during Cairo ICT 2025, a regional technology and communications forum that has increasingly become a venue for announcing cross-border fintech and banking partnerships in Africa and the Middle East.

Beyond infrastructure, the collaboration aligns with Saudi Sudanese Bank’s stated mission to expand its digital capabilities and improve customer experience. By upgrading its payment processing backbone, the bank aims to introduce faster, safer, and more accessible financial products, while contributing to the broader development of Sudan’s financial ecosystem.

For Network International, the partnership reinforces its reputation as a large-scale, reliable payment processor serving banks across Africa and the Middle East. The company has positioned itself as a long-term infrastructure partner rather than a transactional service provider, particularly in markets undergoing financial system reform.

Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Reda Helal, Group Managing Director for Processing, Africa at Network International, said the partnership represents a meaningful step toward advancing Sudan’s digital payments infrastructure.

He noted that Network’s role extends beyond technical delivery, framing the collaboration as part of a broader effort to help banks accelerate transformation and build sustainable growth models through modern payment capabilities.

Osama Ali Ibrahim, CEO of Saudi Sudanese Bank, described the partnership as a major milestone in the bank’s modernisation strategy. He pointed to Network International’s experience across Africa and beyond as a key factor in the decision.

According to Ibrahim, access to a comprehensive digital payment platform will allow the bank to roll out more efficient and inclusive financial products, supporting long-term economic development in Sudan.

The collaboration forms part of Network International’s wider strategy to expand its presence in Sudan and support financial institutions seeking scalable and resilient digital payment solutions.

At the same time, it strengthens Network’s position as a preferred partner for banks across the region as they pursue innovation, operational efficiency, and improved customer experience through digital payments infrastructure.
