Jumia launches 9th Anniversary campaign, to offer up to 50% off on essentials

E-Commerce platform Jumia has today launched its 9th Anniversary campaign. The company says it will be marking this anniversary by supporting sellers and celebrating partners.

The Jumia 9th anniversary-themed ‘Kila Kitu – Kila Siku’ is one of its biggest annual commercial events and it is slated to hold from 14th – 27th June. According to Jumia, it promises value for money for its customers featuring top brands including L’Oreal, PRK, Samsung, Reckitt Benckiser, Xiaomi, Unilever, Hotpoint and P&G

“As we celebrate our 9th Anniversary, we will be offering consumers amazing deals of up to 50% off on essentials like sugar, maize flour, and cooking oil. The campaign this year highlights the increasingly important role that the e-commerce industry is playing in the daily lives of consumers,” said Jumia Kenya CEO, Sam Chappatte.

For 9 years, the company continues to provide convenience to consumers and with the COVID-19 pandemic, it has provided consumers access to basic and essential products and services to allow them to stay safe. The constraint enforced on the global economy by COVID-19 has made e-Commerce an essential service to consumers in urban, remote, and rural areas.

Companies across the country are also turning to e-commerce as a channel to improve their sales and compensate for the disruption to traditional offline channels.

A recent Visa report placed Kenya among the top drivers of e-commerce volumes in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The report confirmed that, as the world becomes increasingly digital, e-commerce has been driving the acceleration of digital commerce. It has experienced phenomenal growth rates around the world, and even recent setbacks as a result of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic haven’t stopped its rise. In fact, according to recent GroupM estimates, e-commerce sales are projected to grow to $7 trillion across the globe by 2024.
