M-TIBA Partners With Sweden’s BYON8 to Expand Telehealth Services
Kenyan health-tech platform M-TIBA has partnered with Sweden’s online doctors’ platform BYON8 to expand access to telehealth services for its members.
The deal will allow M-TIBA members to access healthcare services online from specialists on the BYON8 platform. This gives members a wider variety and options for medical services at an unlimited monthly fee.
“Overcoming barriers to healthcare access has been significantly reduced by telehealth. Implementation of telehealth services is one of the ways of ensuring universal healthcare is an achievable outcome in Kenya,” said Managing Director of M-TIBA, Mr. Moses G Kuria.
“This comes at a time when patients have become key players in the delivery of health care services as they are more aware and in control of their health status and outcomes.”
M-TIBA, a product developed by Safaricom, PharmAccess and CarePay to deepen the ability of citizens to access healthcare and bring inclusive healthcare within reach has been in existence since 2015. Through the years, the startup has partnered with several stakeholders to decentralize health services and expand options for users.
The platform helps members to access specialists and general practitioners at any time of the day from wherever they are. The medical packages are stored and saved online, allowing members to use it both online and at any of the enlisted referral facilities. There are more than 100 partner healthcare facilities and pharmacies available on the platform.
