Airtel Money Customers Will Soon Deposit and Withdraw Cash Online via Standard Chartered Bank


Airtel Money customers will now be able to make deposits and withdrawals via Standard Chartered bank, thanks to the recent partnership between the two.

Airtel Africa has today announced a collaboration with Standard Chartered bank meant to ease the flow of cash through the company’s mobile money service, Airtel Money.

The partnership has also been deemed to help drive financial inclusion across key markets in Africa through the provision of increased access to mobile financial services to customers.

“Our relationship with Standard Chartered boosts financial inclusion across the continent, giving millions of people access to valuable banking services,” said Raghunath Mandava, CEO, Airtel Africa.

Standard Chartered and Airtel Africa will also “co-create new, innovative products” to enhance the accessibility of financial services across the market.

Through the new partnership, Airtel Money customers will be able to;

  • Make real-time online deposits and withdrawals from Standard Chartered bank accounts
  • Receive international money transfers directly to their wallets
  • Access savings products amongst other services

For corporate customers of StanChart, the new partnership means you can now disburse payments directly to Airtel Money wallets.

“By collaborating with innovative organisations like Airtel Africa, we are accelerating our mobile and digital-led strategy to provide best in class financial services to Africa,” said Sunil Kaushal, Regional CEO, Africa and the Middle East.

“This partnership will further enhance the ability of our customers to manage and move money safely and securely and create market-leading financial solutions across countries,” he added.

By partnering with Airtel Africa, Standard Chartered’s goal of expanding its reach to more people. While Airtel Africa sees the partnership as a way to expand the range and depth of its Airtel Money services.

Airtel Money has a 19 million customer base in Africa, according to the company.
