Little Cabs launches USDD short code to target more users.

Safaricom powered Taxi-hailing service Little Cabs will now be accessible to non-smartphone users. Craft Silicon, the organisation behind the cab services has announced the introduction of Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) hailing option.

Through the short code *826# owners of feature mobile phones will also be able to enjoy the benefits of Little cab services. The Little Cabs app has already recorded 23,500 downloads on iOS, windows, and android devices just over a month after being launched.

According to Craft Silicon CEO Kamal Budhabhatti, the introduction of USSD, a first in Kenya, will radically change the taxi hailing business. He said the launch of thE USSD code will be able to accommodate millions of Kenyans previously locked out due to the fact that they do not own a smartphone.

“The idea behind Little App powered by Safaricom is to provide affordable and convenient cab services to as many Kenyans as possible and I believe we are well on our way to achieving this through the launch of the USSD service,” he said.

The launch comes just after  Little Cab rebranded  to Little App which according to Budhabhatti was because it was restricting to just cabs and as the business grows, they will be looking into growing beyond taxis.
