Posta launches PREM, secure e-mail services to help users track their e-mails
The Kenya Postal Corporation has today launched an encrypted mailing service targeting high tech-savvy individual and companies using the service.
Dubbed Postal Registered Encrypted Mail (PREM) the service will help individuals and companies that rely on email for personal or official communication track important emails and know precisely when they are delivered and opened.
According to PCK, The PREM solution combines a number of features to ensure security when sending sensitive documents. It also enables the sender to add a signature on a document and issues a notification on the status of email sent.
With Prem eliminates the hassle of physical sending of documents and can be accessed from anywhere at any time. Through financial inclusion using postal services, the Postmaster General said Kenya’s economy stands to gain from our innovations such as Postal Registered email.
The feature also comes with Timestamped Open Reports that will tells you exactly when the email you sent was delivered and exactly when it was opened.
The Kenya Postal Corporation says it is targeting some 1.2 million users in the next six months,
Another key feature is that PREM can easily be integrated into your existing email client.
The corporation is banking on this feature to sell the service to the market betting on the growing number of smartphones users in the country and the penetration of internet among most Kenyans. The feature will also enable people to carry out private discussions and exchange confidential documents online.
To access to the service, users will be required to subscribe through Posta’s online portal and they will be good to go.
