Binance Champions Crypto Safety with Nationwide Campaign in Kenya

Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has launched a new safety awareness campaign in Kenya, using the daily realities of boda-boda riders to promote digital financial security.

Launched during Data Privacy Week, the initiative draws a parallel between physical safety habits, such as wearing helmets on Nairobi’s busy roads, and responsible practices in the digital economy.

At the launch event, Binance distributed safety gear, including helmets and reflective vests, to members of the boda-boda community. The distribution was accompanied by training sessions on road safety, intended to mirror the company’s emphasis on user education in the crypto sector.

“Wearing a helmet is a simple yet powerful way to protect users,” said Saruni Maina, Regional Operations Lead for Binance Africa. “Just like a helmet, security measures must be in place before you face risk. Our goal is to ensure that every Kenyan feels safe, whether navigating Nairobi streets or engaging in the financial world.”

Calvince Okumu, President of the Digital Boda Drivers and Deliveries Association of Kenya, welcomed the partnership, noting that the high cost of safety gear often leaves riders vulnerable.

“A helmet can save your life, but many riders cannot afford proper gear. Today’s event shows that our safety matters,” Okumu said. “Just as we rely on helmets to reduce risks on the road, we need tools to protect our earnings in the digital space. This initiative brings that message home in a way that makes sense to our community.”

Binance indicated that the campaign will continue through educational videos, localized social media content, and influencer partnerships designed to equip both first-time and experienced traders with the tools to trade securely.
