Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) using Diamond Trust Bank’s (DTB) “Till Moja” can now accept payments directly from Airtel Money customers, following a strategic partnership announced on Thursday between the telco and the bank.
The collaboration aims to streamline payment processes for businesses while offering consumers more flexibility. In addition to merchant payments, the integration allows Airtel Money users in Kenya to deposit funds directly from their mobile wallets into their DTB accounts, eliminating the need to visit physical bank branches or agents.
To drive adoption, Airtel Money has announced a 50 percent guaranteed cashback as airtime on all Paybill payments made through the service.
Anne Kinuthia-Otieno, Managing Director of Airtel Money Kenya, stated that the move is part of a broader strategy to facilitate the seamless flow of money across Kenya’s financial ecosystem.
“While customers have previously been able to send funds to DTB accounts, this new feature now extends that convenience to DTB Till Moja merchants, creating even more value for our customers and for small businesses,” said Kinuthia-Otieno.
Both institutions framed the partnership as a win for financial inclusion, particularly for rural and underserved areas where mobile money remains the primary transactional tool.
George Otiende, Director of Retail Banking at DTB, noted that the partnership removes barriers to banking access. “By expanding the ways our customers can pay, save, and transact, we are making banking more inclusive, flexible, and accessible for everyone,” Otiende said.
Customers can access the new services via the Airtel Money mobile App or by dialing USSD code *334#.
