inDrive launches Ksh. 2.3M hackathon seeking safety ideas in ride-hailing
inDrive, the ride-hailing company competing with Uber and Bolt for the urban market has launched an annual global hackathon seeking to improve safety and inclusivity in the ride-hailing business.
The hackathon dubbed inCode is taking place in two phases, with Phase 1 running from April 20 – June 4, 2023. Participants will be required to submit ideas and general concepts in the format of PowerPoint/ Keynote presentations.
In the second phase of inCode2023 running (June 19 – July 9, 2023): Participants should deliver their prototypes to compete for the prizes. The best prototypes in each of the three categories will win prizes.
The hackathon is seeking solutions that improve safety so that both riders and drivers have complete peace of mind. They must also advance accessibility for people with disabilities, as a lack of viable and comfortable transportation options currently hinders many from participating fully in their communities and lives. Finally, these solutions must outline a large dream by determining features that are currently missing from inner and inter-city trips and the delivery of goods, and discovering ways to use technology to improve these services and solutions.
Alexander Lobashev, Senior VP of Engineering, inDrive said, “Ride-hailing platforms owe their very existence to the creativity and technical expertise of software developers and coders’ ability to dream up, design, and build global products, reliable algorithms, and user-friendly interfaces. inCode is a way for inDrive to recognize the tech innovators who invest their time and talent to make ride-hailing safer, more inclusive, and better to use.
inDrive was founded in 2012 and has its headquarters in Yakutsk, Russia. The company launched its services in the African market in 2018 and has since expanded its reach to 10 African cities across five African countries, including Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria.
