Microsoft ADC appoints Catherine Muraga as new Managing Director
The African Development Centre (ADC), Microsoft’s premier engineering hub, has appointed Catherine Muraga as its Managing Director, effective 01 June 2022.
Microsoft ADC has been in operation since 2019, under the leadership of Jack Ngare who recently moved to Google Cloud as Technical Director in the office of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Catherine Muraga brings to Microsoft ADC more than 15 years of experience in the IT sector, and knowledge from the banking, aviation and manufacturing industries. Previously, Muraga served as head, of engineering at Stanbic Bank Kenya & South Sudan.
Muraga’s illustrious career kicked off at ISP Kenya as an engineer, before moving to EABL as a Team Leader-IS Support. Her next stop was Kenya Airways where she worked as Manager IS, Office Automation, and later, Manager IS, Service Delivery. From the aviation industry, she crossed over to banking, working for Stanbic Bank Kenya as manager, Service Deliver, going up the ladder to head of IT Operations in a stint that lasted two years.
Muraga holds a BS, Computer Science from Nazarene University. She is also an alumnus of Columbia Business School Digital Strategies for Business and the Oxford University Fintech Programme.
Her new role at the apex of the Microsoft Africa Development Center places her right at the heart of innovation in Kenya and Africa. The engineering landscape is set for an epic run as leading tech multinationals set up shop in Africa. Google and both set up similar innovation centres in Kenya earlier this year.
