Jack Ngare Leaves Microsoft ADC for Google Cloud
Former Managing Director of Microsoft Africa Development Centre (ADC) Jack Ngare has moved to Google Cloud Office as Technical Director in the office of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Google Cloud’s Office of the CTO (OCTO) brings together a global team of senior technology experts and former enterprise CTOs to enhance collaboration innovation between Google Cloud and its largest, most strategic customers.
Before joining his former employer, Microsoft, Ngare worked as Managing Director Finserve Africa. Finserve is the fintech arm of Equity Group which operates Equitel and other services.
“It has been a lifechanging few years at Microsoft putting Kenya and Africa on the global software engineering map. The future is bright for all. Young and old (yes you are never too old). Its hard for me to put it all in words,” Ngare wrote on his LinkedIn page.
Google recently set up the African Development Centre (ADC) to empower Africa developers, engineers and tech-prenuers to build tech-driven solutions that addresses the continent’s challenges.
The recently-launched Nairobi-based innovation hub is currently recruiting engineers, developers and user experience (UX) designers. It’s set to employee more than 400 full-time personnel.
“We are thrilled to have Jack join our growing team and bring his expertise to companies based in Kenya and around the world.” Said Will Grannis, Chief Technology Officer, adding that “Google Cloud’s Office of the CTO not only helps our customers create their future with technology but also guides Google on what challenges the world’s enterprises are trying to solve,”
Nairobi has become a preferred destination for tech giants spreading wings into Africa. Microsoft and Visa have also joined the foray of tech multinationals who have set shop in Kenya.
