Rugged Nokia XR20 5G, Nokia C30, Nokia 6310 (2021) Launched


HMD Global, the Home of Nokia phones, on Tuesday unveiled three new Nokia phones to its refreshed portfolio and significantly expanded its audio accessory range. The phones included the Nokia XR20 5G, Nokia C30, and a feature phone dubbed Nokia 6310 (2021).

The  Nokia XR20 5G as we mentioned in our teaser article comes with a rugged casing, is MIL-STD810H certified to withstand a drop from 1.8 meters, and is also IP68 compliant in waterproof and dustproof performance.

The Nokia C30 on the other hand is an entry-level smartphone running on Android 11 (Go Edition). The Nokia 6310 (2021) is a feature phone offering Wi-Fi support.

HMD Global is promoting the Nokia XR20 as the “phone we won’t need to cover”. It is a mid-range phone with an extra-strong case. 

Nokia XR20 pricing starts at EUR 499 which is roughly some Ksh.64,000 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage configuration. There is also a 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant that we are not sure about its pricing. 

Nokia XR20 runs on Android 11 with a stock experience and Nokia is promising to provide regular Android OS version upgrades for up to three years and monthly security updates for up to four years. The phone features a 6.67-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The display has been designed to work with wet hands and gloves. 

Under the hood, we are getting an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 SoC, along with up to 6GB of RAM.  For the cameras, there is a dual rear camera setup that houses a 48-megapixel primary sensor and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide shooter. Both cameras are equipped with ZEISS optics and come with preloaded features such as SpeedWarp mode and Action Cam mode. There is an 8-megapixel selfie camera sensor at the front. The phone also supports 5G. 

The Nokia XR20 packs a 4,630mAh non-removable battery that supports wired and wireless charging. HMD claims the battery can deliver up to two days of usage. It also has 18W wired and 15W wireless charging support.

The phone is available in Granite and Ultra Blue colour options.

Nokia C30  will be available in select markets globally starting 27th July in Green and White colour options. It comes in 2/32GB, 3/32GB and 3/64GB configurations. 

The phone features a 6.82-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch. The phone is powered by an octa-core Unisoc SC9863A SoC. 

The Nokia C30 packs a 6,000mAh battery that supports 10W wired charging. For the cameras, we are getting a dual rear camera setup that houses a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The selfie camera is 5-megapixel. 

It runs on Android 11 (Go edition).

The Nokia 6310 is a feature phone that HMD says is a classic reimagined for today’s connected user. 

The Nokia 6310 (2021) runs on S30+ and features a 2.8-inch QVGA display. The phone also comes with preloaded the iconic Snake game and includes a built-in LED Torch. 

Nokia  6310 (2021)  is powered by a Unisoc 6531F SoC that is paired with 16MB RAM and 8MB onboard storage. The back camera is 0.3-megapixel. The phone also features a Micro-USB port for charging and comes with wireless FM radio support. There’s also Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-F, and 2G connectivity.

For the battery, the phone comes with a  1,150mAh battery that HMD Global says can deliver “weeks” long usage.
