Cheap Smartphones Available in Kenya with FHD+ 90Hz Displays
Smartphones are getting better and better, especially in the midrange category. This is true, thanks to trickling down of yesterday’s flagship specs. Midrange phones these days offer fast charging, quad-camera setup, and 90Hz displays or refresh rate is becoming a norm.
Lower mid-range phones were not yet there – at least in Kenya – but the recent weeks have marked the onset of 90Hz refresh rate displays. They’re still some caveats, though. All the recently announced 90Hz display phones use LCD as their de facto display technology. To some, that could be an issue, but it shouldn’t. The use of LCD technology is, arguably, one of the primary reasons for lower prices.
But to those looking for a smartphone with a 90Hz display in Kenya for cheap, here’s the best three – and only – options you got, for now.
List of Smartphones with 90Hz Refresh Rate Display
Realme 6
Realme 6 was the first phone in Kenya with a 90Hz display retailing at KES 30,000. To justify the price tag, realme 6 also includes 8GB of memory, 128GB of internal storage, 30W fast charging support, and a quad-camera setup.

Conclusion
There are only three devices available in Kenya with 90Hz displays that won’t stretch your budget. Both of these have an identical processor, memory configuration, and similar display panels – exempt the sizes.
The low price difference across the three devices shouldn’t matter. Software upgrades are not the best evaluation standard either. As it turns out, the choice boils down to your preferred custom user interface. Is it XOS? HiOS? Or realme UI(looks strikingly similar to OPPO’s ColorOS)?
If you need a higher 120Hz refresh rate, there’s a couple of options available, too, but not for a relatively low price. Samsung’s S20 and Note 20 series offer that for a hefty price tag.
