Global Delivery firm Glovo recently secured a $169M Series D funding round led by technology entrepreneur VC Lakestar, and Drake, owner of global pizza franchise Papa John’s. The startup, which recently launched in Nairobi saID it will use this injection of funding to bolster its growth within the Sub-Saharan Africa market.
And now the firm which uses an app to enable its deliveries has partnered with Simbisa Brands to enable food deliveries in Nairobi, a move it says is to help bolster its market share in Kenya. Simbisa is a QSR franchise business that operates in 9 markets across Africa. Their brands include food and eatery outlets like Chicken Inn, Pizza Inn, Creamy Inn, Galito’s and Baker’s Inn. “Partnering with Glovo will facilitate an increase in our consumer base. We believe this will have an impact on the business and improve our service delivery as part of our quest to always satisfy consumer demands,” said Joseph Claver, Simbisa Brands’ Head of Business Development.
Since its entry into the Kenyan Market in January this year, Glovo has partnered with top brands and franchises like Carrefour for a global deal on groceries and now Simbisa Africa.
