Infinix S4 Unboxing and Quick Thoughts
The Infinix S4 is here with us. The device was launched in the Kenyan market just the other day and is the first from the company to come with a waterdrop notch and a powerful 32-Megapixels front camera.
Infinix launched two variants of the S4. There’s the 3GB/32GB variant which Infinix is selling at Ksh.14,999 and the 6GB/64GB variant that will retail at Ksh.18,999. We got the 3GB/32GB variant as our review unit which we’re going to unbox in this article.
Remember the main highlight which is also the key selling point for the Infinix S4 is the 32MP selfie camera. Speaking during the launch, Migwi Livingstone, Chief Business Development Officer, Transsion Holding East Africa said “The Infinix S4 is a premium designed to offer excellent selfie camera and performance feature. We have integrated a range of the latest AI technologies on the smartphone and we are certain that the S4 will over-deliver on its promise.”
So it will be really interesting to see how the phone performs with the camera.
The packaging comes with the usual accessories which include:
- The phone itself
- A screen protector
- Some user guide, warranty card and some manual
- A USB cable
- The wall adapter
- A transparent back case and
- A SIM ejector tool.
The review unit we got is the blue one or what Infinix is calling the calling nebula blue which looks really good. At the back, you have the triple camera setup with flash and the fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint scanner is quite responsive from the few times I used it.
Infinix did something at the back of the device that gives the phone a unique look. The bottom has some dark shade while the top part still remains blue.
The Infinix S4 comes with a 6.2-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1500 pixels and measures 75.3 x 156.7 x 8.3 mm ((height x width x thickness). Remember it’s also the first from the company to come with a waterdrop notch.
Remember as we said in our teaser article about the device, it’s interesting that Infinix has decided to go with a teardrop notch on the Infinix S4. Remember notches have taken a permanent seat at the top of most smartphone display these days and various smartphone makers are trying to reduce its size to make it more pleasing to the eyes, especially for us who hate notches. The notch on the S4 is what houses the front shooter.
At the bottom, you have the speaker grills, the Micro USB port and headphone jerk. If you were expecting a USB type C then you might be a bit disappointed.
The SIM and MicroSD card tray are on the left while the power and volume buttons are all on the right.
The device is powered by a Mediatek Helio P22 MT6762 chipset and comes with 3GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. As I mentioned we also have a 6GB RAM and 64GB variant. The Infinix S4 runs on Android OS v9.0 (Pie) out of the box powered by4000 mAh, non-removable battery.
